PRODUCT REVIEW: 24-inch Apple iMac (Mid 2007 Model)

As I sit in front of my shiny new 24-inch iMac writing this review, I'm reminded of why I love Apple products - they just work. I had the machine set up, running, and was checking my email within a matter of minutes after the package arrived at my house. Now for the true test - can it handle my pro applications and manage my ever-complicated home entertainment needs?

Look & Feel

Bar none, this is the most sophisticated iMac to date. There is a very clean, almost surgical, feel to it that makes my entire home office more livable. With its aluminum casing, high-gloss screen, and slim build, the machine is jaw-droppingly beautiful. I admit the size of the screen was overwhelming at first - bright, big, and seemingly too close - but once properly adjusted, it delivers so much more than the 20-inch model.

PRODUCT REVIEW: LG LN740 GPS Unit

I didn't really know what to expect from the LG LN740 never having used a GPS system before. Truth be told, I don't really need a GPS unit. I do have a long daily commute, but I know the route - and the shortcuts - better than a machine. Or do I?

Look & Feel

Compared to other models I have seen, the LN740 looks a lot thinner and cooler (as if Apple had something to do with the design). It's very portable, and the four-inch touchscreen makes it super easy to use while on the go. It also doesn't look out of place when mounted to your windshield because there are no cables hanging down since it can run for up to six hours on the battery.

PRODUCT REVIEW: Toshiba HD-A20 HD-DVD Player

With its bargain price of $399.99, the Toshiba HD-A20 could be considered an entry-level HD-DVD player. Fortunately Toshiba has not compromised quality for a lower price and has packed a lot of player into one beautiful machine.

Look & Feel

Typical of most Toshiba HD-DVD players, the HD-A20 has a very clean, simple look. The unit fits great next to my other components, as it's the same size of a regular DVD player. The control buttons are located under a flip-down cover on the front (unlike the LG Super-Blu, which runs along the top), making it easy to access when needed. One thing I really like about Toshiba players is that the power cord detaches, making it much easer to set up in a cabinet, and this one follows that same form.

PRODUCT REVIEW: LG Super Blu (BH100) Blu-Ray/HD-DVD Player

I was really excited to get my hands on the LG Super Blu - the world's first combination Blu-Ray, HD-DVD, and Progressive Scan DVD player. One machine to handle all my viewing needs? What's not to like?

Look & Feel

The unit itself is about the same size as a stand-alone DVD recorder. It's shiny black and has a nice blue glow when turned on. The control buttons are placed on the top of the unit, which is esthetically pleasing, but almost impossible to use once inside a cabinet.
