TELEVISION: Your fall season - Chuck
I need to begin this post with an awful, hideous truth. I was a fan of The O.C. I know, please pick your jaws up off the floor, but the stories (while silly) were a welcome break from life, and the characters were good...at least for the first season...maybe season and a half, and then the show got stupid.
That being said, I bring you Chuck ,created by McG Josh Schwartz, the guy who created The O.C. I didn't know what to expect from this show when I heard about it. A geeky guy (YES! Another geeky guy. Bet you he likes comic books and there will be hot women) gets the databases of the NSA and CIA dumped into his head. How does he deal with it? What zany stories will he be able to tell? Will there be hot women?
**SPOILERS AHEAD**

HOT! Those things in her hair can kill you though!
It begins when Chuck's old "friend" from college goes rogue, downloads the databases, and sends them to Chuck on his birthday. It's interesting to note that the databases somehow fits on a Mac computer from 1984 (I think I used to have something like it and now it's a doorstop for my grandmother). But the government, in their wisdom, decided to use the computer to house all the information from the different branches that are designed to protect us.

Can you believe how old their systems are?
Chuck gets the databases (all in image-form because words would be hard to understand, I assume) into his brain and now can call up information at random and, not surprisingly, crucial points. We are introduced to two other characters: the sexy CIA agent, Sarah (played by Yvonne Strzechowski), who has decided to befriend Chuck, as well as a bad-ass, old-school killer from the NSA, played by one of my favorite actors, Adam Baldwin, who always plays bad-ass rolls and always plays them well.

Adam Baldwin with a gun, by now he must be used to this pose.
At first, both sides are trying to get their hands on Chuck for themselves. Sarah goes about it the sexy way, while Baldwin's character just wants to get him and dump him in a psych tank (he says so too). Eventually Chuck saves the day and they decide to let him live as long as he helps them both. Just to make sure, they'll be watching him, but he can't tell anyone.
Now as silly as this storyline might sound, I really liked it. This show is exactly what I need after watching serious dramas for weeks. It's a silly premise, but it doesn't treat the viewer, or the characters, as if they are idiots.
And there you have the premise of Chuck. Watch it, enjoy, and forget about the outside world for 45 minuets.
