**WARNING - SPOILERS AHEAD**
Weeds is one of my favourite shows on television and, next to Entourage, it is the only show I have to watch when it airs (no TiVo or downloading). For the last two seasons it has delivered adult comedy like no other show on television. The absurd plot of a woman who becomes a drug dealer when her husband dies does not sit well with some. For me, I love it. It's unbelievable believability sucks me in to each episode and I can't get enough. Season two got more serious near the end, and the "drug dealing is cool" attitude of the show shifted to "drug dealing is dangerous and not cool". Is this the direction the show is taking?
Season three starts right where season two ended: the dope is gone, the DEA agent (Martin Donovan) is dead, and there is a stand-off in the kitchen of the grow house between the Armenians, U-turn (Page Kennedy), Marvin (Fatso-Fasano), Conrad (Romany Malco), and Nancy (Mary-Louise Parker). We know that Silas (Hunter Parrish) has the pot in the trunk of his car (he stole it to get back at Nancy). We know that Celia (Elizabeth Perkins) and the police have arrested Silas for stealing the "Drug Free Zone" signs and cameras. But in a strange turn of events, Celia has to drive Silas' car home because the police won't let her ride with them now that a suspect is in the car. Trying to get the car going, Celia pops the trunk by accident.

Andy (Justin Kirk) is still looking for Shane (Alexander Gould) with the bounty hunter Abumchuck (Robert Allen Mukes). Shane had run away with Kat (Zooey Deschanel) in the season finale, and in one of the most drawn out scenes in the episode, Kat ditches Shane at a roadside diner to hitch a ride to Peru with a trucker. She leaves Shane the van they were driving and some change she stole from a vending machine. On his own, Shane attempts to drive (practicing for an hour in the parking lot first). Abumchuck splits from Andy (after punching him in the face) once they find out that Kat and Shane aren't together anymore. Now on his own, Andy is hitchhiking back to Los Angeles when he finds the van Shane was driving on the side of the road.
Dean (Andy Milder) and Doug (Kevin Nealon) are still at the kids' graduation party fighting over the fact that Doug slept with Celia (Dean's wife). Doug is also mad at Dean for telling his wife, and ruining his marriage. They end up locking themselves in the bathroom and getting high on all the prescription drugs in the house. In one of the funniest scenes in the history of the show, they compare the size of their penises while wearing avocado skin masks.

Back at the grow house, Nancy convinces the thugs and the Armenians to let her leave so she can find the pot. They give her till sundown and send her on her way with Marvin and one of the Armenians. She visits Silas at the police station to find out where he put the dope. Silas explains it's in the trunk of his car, which Celia has. On the way to find Celia and the car, the Armenian gets a call that U-turn bought their share and they are out (he leaves the car and runs away). Nancy finds Silas' car and Celia at her house, but all the pot is floating in the pool (for her own good, says Celia to Nancy). To be continued.
Although there is some drama, the episode brings back the comedic vibe of the first season and is definitely heading in the right direction. Season three could bring the show the mainstream audience it deserves, which could make it or break it.
Season three of Weeds premieres on Showtime Monday, August 13th at 10 p.m. Canadians will have to wait till October for it to premiere in Canada on Showcase.
